Welcome to the Central Valley Rescue Railroad Central Valley Rescue Railroad is an all volunteer organization located near the Foothill communities of the Central San Joaquin Valley. We are a "shelter without walls"; in other words, all of our animals are housed in a network of caring foster families/homes. The dogs (and an occasional cat) in our program are acquired through a variety of sources. We rescue from local kill shelters and we accept some owner surrenders. Any healthy, adoptable animal in our program is guaranteed to be either adopted or transferred to another no-kill facility. All dogs/cats posted are available for adoption. Adoptions require a completed application, an interview with an adoption counselor and sometimes a home visit is scheduled. All animals of appropriate age are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. If we are unable to do so due to age, we will require an additional deposit and we will schedule the surgery within a reasonable time frame. Our adoption fees include age appropriate vaccines, sterilization and micro-chipping. Many of our dogs can be seen at Petsmart in Visalia on Saturdays from 10am to 3pm. All dogs can be seen by appointment. Highlighted Dogs
